Posted by Alexandria Miller on November 14, 2024

Here is your essential guide to navigating the Emirates NBA Cup in Las Vegas, held on December 14 and December 17 at the T-Mobile Arena. We have everything you need to ensure you have a wonderful experience in Vegas.

Flights to Las Vegas

Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)  is conveniently located just a few miles south of the Las Vegas Strip, providing easy access for domestic and international travelers. The airport hosts over 30 airlines and features slot machines to get visitors into the Vegas spirit right away.

International Visitors

Visas: Many international travelers do not need a visa for entry to the USA; however, an approved, Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) application is required prior to travel.

Currency: The currency used is the United States dollar ($USD). Credit cards are widely accepted, and ATMs are readily available. Tipping service staff around 15-20% is customary.

Language: English.

Health: Comprehensive travel insurance is recommended, as emergency medical care can be costly.

Time Zone: PST (Pacific Standard Time) UTC –8.

Emergency: Dial 911 for police, fire, or ambulance services.

Power Sockets: Type A and B sockets are used. Travelers from Europe, Australia, or other regions should bring an adapter/voltage converter.

Weather: Expect cooler weather in December with average high temperatures around 60°F and lows near 40°F.

Transportation in Las Vegas

Both Uber and Lyft operate extensively in Las Vegas, but taxis remain a reliable option. Note that taxis cannot be hailed from the street—they must be picked up at designated locations, such as hotel taxi lines.

For convenient travel along the Las Vegas Strip, the Las Vegas Monorail provides efficient service with trains arriving every 4-8 minutes. The 3.9-mile elevated track runs from the MGM Grand to SAHARA Las Vegas, making stops at key locations along the way.
