NBA Experiences Celebrates the NBA 75th Anniversary Team

The NBA 75 was created in 2021 to honor the 75th anniversary of the founding of the NBA. It is comprised of 76 of the greatest players to have ever played in the league. Originally there were only supposed to be 75 players on the list but due to a tie in voting, the committee decided to add a 76th member.

At the time of selection, the players selected for this honor combined for 158 NBA championships, 62 Most Valuable Player awards, 48 Finals MVP awards, and 730 All-Star selections. Of the 76 players, all 50 members of the NBA 50th anniversary team were selected, the other 26 included players from the 1970s to the current era with 11 players still active in the league.

NBA Experiences has had the honor of hosting 6 members of this incredible list at our events since our start in 2022.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Calling Kareem Abdul-Jabbar an NBA Legend is an understatement. Between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Los Angeles Lakers, he donned his number 33 jersey for 20 NBA seasons, racking up an impressive accomplishment list that no one else has. 6X NBA Champion, 2X NBA Finals MVP, 6X NBA MVP, 19X NBA All-Star, and that’s only scratching the surface.

During NBA Summer League 2023, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar joined NBA Experiences in Las Vegas for an incredible NBA Legends Dinner. During this once-in-a-lifetime evening, guests were able to sit down for a delicious dinner and get to know the Legend like never before.

Julius Erving

Another GOAT. Julius Erving, or Dr. J, helped legitimize the American Basketball Association, and he was the best-known player in that league when it merged into the NBA after the 1975–1976 season. During his 16 years as a player, he won 3 championships, and 4 MVP awards, and played in the All-Star game every year of his impressive career.

We are honored to have Julius Erving joining us in Las Vegas for the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament in December. He will be sitting down with NBA Experiences guests on the court of T-Mobile Arena for an amazing meal and night of getting to know an NBA Legend that most basketball fans only dream of.

Gary Payton

Gary Payton or “The Glove” is considered one of the greatest point guards of all time. His 17-year tenure in the NBA can only be described as legendary. He is a 2006 NBA Champion, a 9X NBA All-Star, a 9X NBA All-Defensive First Team, and the first point guard to win the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.

We are lucky to have hosted Gary Payton at multiple events in the last two years! At NBA Summer League 2022, he joined guests for an NBA Legends dinner, then he took photos with fans and signed autographs at a Meet & Greet inside the NBA EXP Lounge. At NBA All-Star 2023 he joined fellow NBA Legends on stage for a fascinating Q&A session at Lunch with a Legend and he met with fans inside the NBA EXP Lounge. He was inside the NBA EXP Lounge for an exclusive Meet & Greet at the 2023 NBA Abu Dhabi Games.

Isiah Thomas

A Pistons Legend! Isiah Thomas played for the Detroit Pistons for his entire 13-year career in the NBA and helped them win back-to-back championships in 1989 and 1990. He was a 12X NBA All-Star and had his number, 11, retired by the Detroit Pistons. His impressive accomplishments led him to be nominated to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility in 2000.

During the first-ever NBA Abu Dhabi Games in 2022, Isiah Thomas joined NBA Experiences inside our exclusive NBA EXP Lounge to sign autographs, take photos, and meet fans from all over the world.

Bill Walton

Bill Walton was the first overall pick in the 1974 NBA Draft and went on to play in the NBA for 14 seasons. During his time in the league, he helped the Portland Trailblazers win a championship in 1977 and the Boston Celtics in 1986. He also was a 2X NBA All-Star and had his number, 32, retired by the Portland Trailblazers.

At NBA All-Star 2023, Bill Walton stepped onto the court of Vivint Arena with fans to take a photo and create a memory that will last forever.

Dominique Wilkins

This NBA Legend really lives up to his nickname of the Human Highlight Film. Although he went on to play for 5 NBA teams, he is most well-known for his time on the Atlanta Hawks who eventually retired his number, 21, in 2001. He is a 9X NBA All-Star, the NBA Scoring Champion in 1986, and the NBA Slam Dunk Contest Champion in 1985 and 1990.

The Human Highlight Film has joined NBA Experiences for several events around the world! He made an appearance at the NBA Draft in 2022, at the inaugural NBA Abu Dhabi Games he was the guest of honor at the NBA Legends Dinner and did meet & greets inside the NBA EXP Lounge, and at NBA All-Star 2023 he participated in a Q&A session at Lunch with a Legend, joined guests for On-Court Photos and met with guests inside the NBA EXP Lounge.
